Over vacation this summer, I read Taylor Branch's remarkarblr works on Martin Luther King. And I was encouraged to read that King was a horrible speller. So am I.
As I tell students, "everyone has something" when it comes to writing. The problem for many is that they let a single weakness inhibit them. King created a collection of work that changed America, though he needed an editor to clean up his spelling. That should build confidence in all writers.
